HaruCode
I'm back. don't know what was that. did you see the explanation of my problem at least?
dr|z3d
HaruCode: what browser are you using, and how does the inability to browse eepsites display in the browser?
HaruCode
firefox, curl, whatever I use it doesn't work. the proxy is fuctioning, i.e. - it returns the "site unreachable" error page
dr|z3d
how's your computer's clock looking right now? synced?
HaruCode
just synced them. 4 seconds offset. there are no errors in logs. it says an update is ready, but I'm a bit afraid of restarting the router
dr|z3d
4 seconds offset isn't great, but shouldn't impact browsing. what version are you running there?
HaruCode
0.9.48-0
dr|z3d
that's old, super old. update your router and then bounce back here.
dr|z3d
you should try and update to the current version when it's available.
HaruCode
not that I'm easily able to. it's in-memory FreeBSD because of... things... with my hard drive
dr|z3d
well, 0.9.54 is current right now, so you're probably a year or two behind the curve. plenty has changed.
HaruCode
I'll try. if I'm not back soon, consider it failed
dr|z3d
good luck!
HaruCode
tnx
HaruCode
it works now, version 1.8.0-0. to think it'll take a whole day to find an update... but I have another question then: where is the update stored, so I could save it on a persistent storage?
RN
it should be in the snark downloads location
HaruCode
found it, thanks
HaruCode
how do I install it manually or point the router to it in the future?
RN
you drop in in the I2P folder and it should see it at startup
HaruCode
disconnected again... in case messages weren't delivered: I found the update file. how do I install it manually or point the router to it in the future?
RN
you drop in in the I2P folder and it should see it at startup
HaruCode
k
dr|z3d
update file in ~/i2p/ or .i2p/ is fine.
dr|z3d
and no, you're good.
dr|z3d
1.8-0 is current.
dr|z3d
in future, once the update's downloaded, it'll tell you in the sidebar and a restart of the router will deploy it. nothing else to do.
dr|z3d
that is, assuming you have your update set to auto-download on /configupdate
dr|z3d
you can also set to notify only, and you'll get an update button in the sidebar when an update is available. same rules apply, hit that button and, once downloaded, a restart of the router will deploy it.
HaruCode
I figured it's curent. but when I'll have to reboot, I'll have an old version again, and waiting for 24 hours to get the new version is a bit long, so I want to save the archive and apply it manually
HaruCode
if the file in config dir is enough - good
dr|z3d
if you're manually deploying, you may need to rename .su3 to .zip
dr|z3d
there's also geti2p.net/en/download .. you can grab the .zip version linked at the bottom of the page.
dr|z3d
you could also copy ~/i2p/ somewhere persistent before you reboot and then copy it back to ram afterwards.
dr|z3d
(or equivalent app location)
HaruCode
that's what I intend to do. already copied it
dr|z3d
oh, you said BSD, so ~/i2p/ or wherever it's installed. the app dir.
dr|z3d
then you should be good.
dr|z3d
you'll also want to copy ~/.i2p/ probably.
HaruCode
on BSD it's in two places: ~/i2p and ~/.i2p
HaruCode
yeah the configs, the key
dr|z3d
right, so both of those folders you'd want to backup and restore if they're non-persistent.
dr|z3d
anyways, how's the website browsing now? fixed?
HaruCode
postman works, at least. that's all I needed.
dr|z3d
great.
HaruCode
ok, it works. thanks everyone.
HaruCode
heh. using irc feels a bit nostalgic
dr|z3d
stick around, you might learn more :)
