dr|z3d welcome to #saltr, NewRO
NewRO Hi. I installed I2P+, but it seems my Local addressbook has disappeared.
NewRO Instead of Local there's a "Master" addressbook, but it is empty.
dr|z3d Master is always empty by default.
dr|z3d The main address book is the "Router" addressbook.
dr|z3d (which is the landing page when you browse to /dns)
dr|z3d If you mouse over the various books on 127.0.0.1:7657/dns?help then you'll get an explainer for each book.
NewRO Is there a way to transfer the contents of my Local addressbook to the Master one?
NewRO I had some entries in there
dr|z3d Not sure what you mean by "Local". You have some residual addresses from your i2p install you want to import?
NewRO Yeah. In stock I2P there was one called "Local"
dr|z3d Ah, ok, Local is probably what's referred to as Master in +
NewRO and that's where I had added most of the URLs
NewRO But they are no longer visible in the UI. They appear to still be present in hostsdb.blockfile
dr|z3d I don't remember if we treat Local as Master in +, sounds like we don't. You could always run canon (standard) I2P, then export the addresses in your Local book, then start +, then import them from the file you just exported.
NewRO yeah
NewRO How do I switch back to standard?
dr|z3d download the zip update file from the site, drop it in i2p/ or .i2p/ and then restart.
dr|z3d this section -> Download I2P for Manual updates
NewRO Thanks
dr|z3d pay attention to the instructions there!
dr|z3d specifically the rename stuff.
NewRO I've also noticed I have many fewer connected peers on + than standard I2P
dr|z3d that's by design, we're much more aggressive when it comes to temp banning potentially abusive routers.
dr|z3d + also bypasses slower routers for local connections, so there's also that.
NewRO Cool, my ISP provided gateway was getting overloaded by the connection count from stock I2P
dr|z3d you can tweak the max connection count per protocol if need be. (some of the) settings that aren't visible in the UI are listed on 127.0.0.1:7657/help/advancedsettings
dr|z3d for the protocols specfically, the config keys should be listed on /peers
NewRO Yeah
NewRO Surprisingly I have almost no UDP connections now
NewRO whereas before they were maxed out
NewRO I thought the UDP protocol was preferred
NewRO (SSU)
dr|z3d no, NTCP is preferred, the router will attempt to use NTCP connections first.
NewRO ah, okay
