parabo merry x-mas assholes
parabo itsjustme: hi
itsjustme hey parabo :D
itsjustme merry xmas :)
parabo dr|z3d: I am one being, not several
parabo Melanie: hi
T3s|4 Merry Christmas to ALL!!!
dr|z3d jingle balls to you and everyone, T3s|4_!
T3s|4 Merry Christmas dr|z3d - I hope you are feeling better today so you can enjoy this joyous day; but in any event, I appreciate you pushing the Christmas morning 09:09 and 10:33 (UTC) updates :D
Melanie trying to decide what kinda SSD to buy. the one with a warranted TBW value is more expensive than one without
Melanie i do need to get three so price increases add ep
dr|z3d Melanie: avoid qlc ssds.
dr|z3d thanks, T3s|4, feeling slightly better today.
Melanie dr|z3d, what of them?
dr|z3d if it's a sata drive, performance tops out at around 550MB/s, so that's something you don't need to worry about.
dr|z3d and also make sure you've got onboard dram cache.
dr|z3d qlc, wear out quicker.
Melanie I don't really care what's under the hood, as long as it's honestly advertised as to that, and as long as it's not going to have a lot of early life failures
T3s|4 dr|z3d: glad to learn your immune system is beginning to reassert control; otherwise, that failure is exactly how and why people die
T3s|4 Melanie: stop worrying, and read this now 8+ year-old article, which still holds true: arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/06/consumer-grade-ssds-actually-last-a-hell-of-a-long-time
Melanie T3s|4, Do you think that I have not read that document?
Melanie of course you wouldn't; you put two spaces between full stops and the next sentence.
Melanie you think everyone less than 5/6 your age is stupid. which, to be fair, is not an unfounded opinion, but it is factually wrong.
T3s|4 Melanie: I'm not a mind reader; so IDK - and btw, Merry Christmas
Melanie it sounds like I should start replacing the first drive at warranty TBW (if stated) minus 20, the second at WTBW minus 10, and the third at WTBW
Melanie that's something like what I plan to do anyway fwiw
T3s|4 Melanie: are you insane? return for what? Here are some stats from my 4 year old Samsung 1 Tb EVO 970 Plus NVMe drive:
T3s|4 Data Units Written: 256,922,512 [131 TB]
T3s|4 Host Read Commands: 21,419,807,755
T3s|4 Host Write Commands: 3,011,769,215
T3s|4 Power Cycles: 2,558
T3s|4 Power On Hours: 4,444
T3s|4 Unsafe Shutdowns: 913
T3s|4 and if/when that NVMe drive ever dies, I will immediately buy another Samsung NVMe drive; probably at 4-8X the capacity at the same cost, or less!
T3s|4 I am a huge fan of my Samsung NVMe drive's RAM being overwritten 131+ times, as well as its 21.4 BILLION reads; 100% without error...
T3s|4 Melanie: since you apparently revel in being a sarcastic asshole toward people you do not know; fret endlessly about your choices, then buy some cheap, Chinese unbranded SSD to 'save money'. Best of luck in 2023
dr|z3d In summary, if you don't want advice from the channel, don't ask for it. And if you're only asking for advice so you can have an argument, find another channel.
Melanie dr|z3d: completely out of context. I put Tes on ignore, again, shortly after linking the article I'd already seen. Not here to stir shit. That seems to be something you made up. I was hoping someone who wasn't an execrable shitgibbon would have useful advice. It seems it was not to be.
Melanie In summary to what?
Melanie that was an odd noise
Melanie I am learning Dr. Zed is a shitgibbon and Tes is a blithe patriot (a subsp. of shitgibbon).
T3s|4 hmmh, now wondering if Melanie rhymes with: mesh?
dr|z3d feel free to linger in the channel Melanie/Reinheilde/Ellenor or whatever novel nickname you decide for yourself, but you no longer have voice given your lack of useful contributions to the channel and tendency to resort to ad hominem attacks.
